When the temperature rises it’s time to get grilling outdoors!

Master your BBQ skills with these useful tips and impress your friends and family with delicious recipes from Big Al’s – Ireland’s number 1 burger brand!

: Make sure you choose a well-sheltered and level spot for your BBQ and keep it away from anything that might catch fire.

Try and prepare as much as possible (marinades, salads etc.) the night before your BBQ and store overnight in your fridge. This means less stress on the day and more time to enjoy your BBQ!
: To ensure the perfect BBQ flavour, charcoal barbeques should be lit about 45 minutes before you start cooking. Start cooking once white ash has formed on the BBQ coals.

If you are using a gas BBQ, don’t forget to check that you have gas in the cylinder!

To give your food some extra delicious flavours, why not try rubbing the grill with a raw onion, chopped in half, before you start cooking! Yum!
: When cooking meat over flames, try and use long tongs instead of a fork, to avoid getting burnt! A fork will also pierce the food, losing some of the delicious juices!

Make sure to cook burgers all the way through so that they are not burnt on the outside and pink on the inside – cook away from the flame to slow any charring.
: Charcoal BBQ’s should be cleaned after each use with a wire brush and warm soapy water. Don’t forget to wait for it to cool down first though!

To clean your gas barbeque simply leave it on full heat for 10 - 15 minutes. This will burn off any remains from previous use and it will be ready and waiting for your next perfect BBQ!
